Wisdom of the Week

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and The most Merciful.

Apologies for all the tazkiyyahs I have missed for the past weeks.

Allahu Ta'ala has said in a hadith Qudsi:

"O dunya, he who serves US, you serve him. And he who serves you, make him your servant."

Hassan al-basri once passed by a person who was counting the beads on his misbah (tasbih). he asked him what he was doing and the man replied that he was counting 1000 Subhanallah(s), 1000 Alhamdulillah(s) and so on. Al-basri then said:

"Count your misdeeds (so you ask forgiveness) and I can guarantee that Allah will not cause you to miss out your good deeds." (i.e. Quality over quantity. There is no need for us to count our good deeds for Allah will do that, but we must be weary of the bad deeds)

Allahu a'lam...

-At Taubah, 9:111
